[1 Week Before Christmas]

If the last time you pulled out the guest bed sheets was a year ago, it's time to take a look at the linen closet. An organized linen closet can make your hosting experience smoother, ensuring that you have everything you need at a moment's notice. In this post, we’ll share essential tips to help you get your linen closet ready before the holiday rush.

Sort and Categorize

The easiest way to handle this closet is to pull everything out so you can sort and check sizes. Group similar items together so you can see how many you have of each.

  • Towels: Separate guest towels from your everyday towels to easily access them for your visitors. In the previous post, I suggest putting a set of towels ready to go in the guest room. If you couldn't find them before, do this now.

  • Bed Linens: Organize sheets by size (twin, full, queen, king) so you can quickly grab the right set for your air mattress or extra bed.

  • Other: If you have other things in here (bath products, etc), do a quick pass through those if you have time.

Donate or Discard Worn Items

As you are sorting, if you come across towels or sheets that are in poor condition, consider donating them. Many animal shelters accept gently used linens and towels. For items that are too worn, it’s time to discard them.

Label Sheets

Labeling sheets will allow you to pull out the right sheets quickly. There are several options for this:

Three beige fabric storage boxes labeled Full, Queen, and Queen on a white shelf. Each box has a handle and visible bedding patterns.
Stack of four folded bed sheets in green, brown, blue, and gray labeled King, Queen, Full, Twin. White bands visible.

  • Baskets or bins with labels - these do not have to be fancy!

Wire basket with beige sheets, labeled "KING SHEETS" on a hanging brown tag. Soft lighting and organized, calm atmosphere.

Organize Your Linen Closet for Easy Holiday Hosting

Organizing your linen closet before the holiday season is an important step in preparing for guests. By assessing your sorting, labeling, and preparing your guest linens, you can ensure you are well-prepared.

Remember to donate or discard worn items and label everything! With these essential tips, you will be able to host with confidence, knowing that your linen closet is ready for holiday cheer.

Take a little time now to get organized, and you will be grateful when your guests arrive!

You've made it to the end of the 8 week challenge! Pat yourself on the back and put your feet up. Now enjoy this last week before Christmas.
